We are currently looking for a caring, patient, and experienced 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils across EYFS, KS1, or KS2 with additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, and Dyslexia, within welcoming primary schools in Barking.

The Role

The school is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide high-quality 1:1 support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs. You will play a vital role in supporting pupils academically, socially, and emotionally, enabling them to access learning and make excellent progress.

Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals, you will deliver tailored support based on each child's individual needs and education plans.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 support for pupils with SEND.
  • Supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Dyslexia, Speech and Language needs, and other additional needs.
  • Delivering personalised interventions both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Supporting pupils' emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Following EHCPs, IEPs, and individual support plans.
  • Adapting learning resources to meet pupils' needs.
  • Supporting communication, literacy, numeracy, and social development.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Providing personal care where required.
To Apply You Must Have
  • A minimum of 1 year's SEND experience working within a school.
  • Experience supporting children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Dyslexia, Speech and Language needs, or other SEND.
  • Knowledge of positive behaviour management and inclusive classroom strategies.
  • Experience implementing EHCPs, IEPs, or personalised learning plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
