Transparency Education is seeking a patient, experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support at a specialist school for pupils aged 7–18 with additional learning needs.
You’ll help a pupil access lessons, develop communication and build independence, adapting your support to their EHCP and individual needs. Your encouragement and consistency will help them approach challenges with greater confidence.
This role suits someone who builds trusting relationships, recognises small achievements and knows when to offer support or allow space for independence.
The school offers personalised academic, vocational and life-skills learning alongside therapeutic support. Its purpose-built environment includes specialist sensory spaces, with a strong emphasis on relationships, wellbeing and preparing pupils for life beyond school.
-
Provide consistent 1:1 support in lessons and daily school routines.
-
Break tasks into manageable steps and adapt resources with the teacher.
-
Support communication, emotional regulation and positive engagement.
-
Encourage independence, social interaction and practical life skills.
-
Share observations with teaching and therapeutic colleagues to review progress.
To be eligible for this role and the stated pay, applicants must have:
-
Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
-
A patient, dependable approach and clear communication skills.
-
Confidence following individual support plans and agreed behaviour strategies.
-
The ability to work collaboratively while encouraging pupil independence.
Appropriate qualifications and training are required. A recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent, is advantageous. Higher rates reflect substantial relevant experience and/or training. Pay follows school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
