About the role
Transparency Education is seeking a patient, enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialist school supporting children and young people with autism and complex learning needs.
Pupils may have significant learning difficulties alongside differences in communication, sensory processing and emotional regulation. You’ll work closely with teachers to make learning accessible, encourage engagement and develop everyday independence.
Personal care is an essential part of this role. You must be comfortable providing sensitive, respectful support that protects each pupil’s dignity.
The school offers a personalised curriculum focused on communication, independence and life skills, alongside therapeutic support. Staff work with families and specialists to respond to pupils’ individual needs and recognise meaningful progress.
-
Support learning individually and in small groups, following teachers’ guidance.
-
Use agreed communication approaches and break activities into manageable steps.
-
Help pupils manage sensory needs, transitions and emotional regulation.
-
Provide personal care sensitively, following individual care plans.
-
Encourage independence and share observations with the wider team.
To be eligible for this role and the stated pay, applicants must have:
-
Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
-
A calm, consistent approach and an understanding of autism.
-
Willingness and ability to provide personal care.
-
Strong communication skills and confidence following support plans.
Appropriate qualifications and training are required. A recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent, is advantageous. Higher rates reflect substantial relevant experience and/or training. Pay follows school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
We support teachers and school support staff through attentive service and professional development, offering:
-
A dedicated consultant providing ongoing support and guidance.
-
A £150 refer-a-friend reward once your referred candidate has worked and been paid for their first 10 days.
-
Pay in line with AWR, including equal pay treatment where applicable.
-
Access to CPD through our in-house team of experienced senior leaders.
