Supportive Primary School in North-West London seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant 

  

Harrow, North-West London 

Pay: £95 - £110 per day 

Start Date: ASAP/September 2026 
Contract: Full-time, Long-term (with potential for permanent) 

About the Role: 

Vocational Recruitment is working in partnership with a two-form entry primary school in Harrow to appoint a committed and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant for a full-time role trialling now and starting in September 2026. 

  

This is a long-term position as a SEND Teaching Assistant. The role involves working closely with teachers to provide tailored support and supporting a child in Reception with Autism on a 1 to 1 basis. Previous experience supporting children with SEND is desirable, along with strong communication skills, patience, and a positive attitude.

Key Responsibilities for the SEND Teaching Assistant role: 

  • Support a pupil with Autism on a 1 to 1 basis 

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities 

  • Encourage student engagement  

  • Help manage behaviour in a positive and supportive manner 

  • Adapt learning materials to meet the individual student’s needs 

  • Monitor and record student progress where required 

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals 

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils at all times 

Requirements for the SEND Teaching Assistant role: 

  • Prior experience working with children with SEND (desirable) 

  • Prior experience working with Autism (desirable) 

  • Knowledge and understanding of SEND 

  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills 

  • A proactive and positive approach to supporting children with their learning 

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
