NXTGEN is partnering with a highly regarded and growing accountancy practice to recruit a Senior Accountant for its expanding Business Services team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants more than a traditional year-end accounts role. You’ll manage a varied portfolio of ambitious and entrepreneurial businesses, combining accounts preparation and tax compliance with management reporting, cloud accounting and process improvement.
You’ll work closely with clients throughout the year, helping them make better use of their financial information and technology. With direct exposure to experienced managers and partners, you’ll be trusted to take ownership of your portfolio while receiving the support and development needed to progress your career.
Key responsibilities
- Managing a varied portfolio of business clients across multiple sectors
- Preparing and reviewing year-end accounts and supporting working papers
- Producing management accounts and tailored financial reports
- Preparing and reviewing corporation tax computations and returns
- Processing and reviewing bookkeeping using cloud-based accounting systems
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
- Supporting clients with accounting queries and cloud software
- Helping clients improve their accounting processes, controls and reporting
- Building strong relationships and becoming a trusted point of contact
- Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
- Working alongside managers and partners on wider assignments and projects
- Assisting with the introduction of new systems and technology
What we’re looking for
You’ll have previous experience working within an accountancy practice and be confident preparing accounts for a portfolio of clients.
You will be ACA or ACCA qualified or currently studying towards a professional qualification. More importantly, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of your work, balancing multiple client deadlines and communicating directly with clients.
Experience with cloud accounting software is essential, alongside exposure to VAT returns, management accounts and year-end accounts. Knowledge of an accounts production system would also be beneficial.
You’ll be proactive, organised and commercially minded, with a genuine interest in using technology to improve the service clients receive.
