We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Analyst (Demography) to join our Research and Intelligence service. 

The Combined Authority’s Research and Intelligence function is a busy and growing multi-disciplinary team with a comprehensive remit that draws on expertise in economic evidence, transport analysis and modelling, spatial intelligence and evaluation. The team works closely with internal policy and delivery functions in a holistic way to identify and shape economic, transport, social and environmental priorities, as well as continuously engaging with a wide range of local partners and national stakeholders.  In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of a high-quality evidence base for West Yorkshire that will maximise the opportunities for regeneration and inclusive growth presented by devolution.

The Role  

Reporting into the Economic Evidence Manager, your key responsibilities will include: 

• Making a central contribution to the ongoing development of a high-quality evidence base for West Yorkshire’s Spatial Development Strategy, that will set out a long-term vision for how the region should grow and develop. 

• Undertaking detailed analysis of demographic trends and patterns to inform understanding of key issues, including housing need, labour supply, infrastructure requirements and demand for local services. 

• Presenting complex data and evidence in appropriate formats to engage a range of stakeholders, including political leaders and planning inspectorate, to support decisions on investment in the region.

About You  

You will have the following key skills, attributes, education, and experience: 

• A proven background in demographic analysis within a spatial context and the ability to interpret key patterns and trends and explain the local implications. 

• A detailed knowledge of relevant public policy, including economic, housing, spatial planning and regeneration themes. 

• The ability to present complex data and evidence relating to demographic analysis in appropriate formats to engage a range of stakeholders, including political leaders. 

• Hold a degree in a relevant field, and / or relevant demonstrable practical experience in the field. 

• Experience of prioritising, planning and organising workloads to manage expectations and deadlines.
