Location: Remote, with regular travel to client sites across the UK and Ireland
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
The Role
ETA Projects Ltd, part of the BRUSH Group, is looking for an experienced Senior Authorised Person to support healthcare and critical infrastructure clients across the UK and Ireland.
Working within our Training & Authorising Engineering Services team, you'll play a key role in ensuring compliance with electrical Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), carrying out technical compliance audits, assessing the competence of Authorised Persons, and providing expert guidance on electrical safety and operational risk management.
This is a predominantly remote role, combining home-based working with regular visits to client sites. Occasional travel to our London office may also be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical compliance audits and report on areas of non-compliance.
- Assess, recommend and support the appointment of Authorised Persons.
- Review competence, training records and succession planning for Authorised Persons.
- Monitor and audit Safe Systems of Work in line with statutory regulations and client requirements.
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations, providing technical input and recommendations.
- Manage and advise on electrical equipment safety alerts.
- Produce technical audit reports and support the closure of audit findings.
- Act as a technical lead on complex electrical systems and projects.
- Provide assurance to clients and senior stakeholders that Safe Systems of Work are being effectively implemented and maintained.
About You
You'll have a strong technical background in electrical engineering and a proven track record within healthcare, defence, or other highly regulated environments.
Essential:
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
- Experience working as an Authorising Engineer or significant experience as a Senior Authorised Person.
- Detailed knowledge of HTM 06-02 / HTM 06-03 and/or JSP 375 Volume 3.
- Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation, including the Electricity at Work Regulations.
- Experience with both High Voltage and Low Voltage electrical systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable:
- Approved Authorising Engineer training completed within the last three years, or willingness to complete within six months of appointment.
- Experience within NHS or MOD estates.
- Knowledge of healthcare support systems.
