SENIOR AUTHORISED PERSON (SAP) / HV COMMISSIONING ENGINEER – NORTH EAST – £70,000 TO £90,000 + BONUS + VEHICLE + OVERTIME

• Are you authorised or previously authorised to carry out HV switching operations?
• Do you have protection relay testing and HV commissioning experience?
• Have you worked within DNO, ICP, power generation, utilities or National Grid environments?

A Senior Authorised Person / HV Commissioning Engineer to join a growing specialist electrical engineering organisation delivering commissioning, testing and switching services across critical power infrastructure and industrial projects.

This role is suited to a technically strong HV professional capable of leading site activities and providing specialist expertise across complex electrical systems.

Experience operating as a Senior Authorised Person or equivalent authorised engineer

HV switching experience

Protection relay testing experience

HV commissioning experience

Strong understanding of electrical distribution networks

Ability to produce technical documentation and commissioning reports

Experience working within regulated and safety-critical environments

Full UK driving licence

• £70,000 to £90,000 basic salary

Protection and control engineering experience

Transformer commissioning expertise

Electrical degree or HNC/HND qualification

NERS authorisations

Undertake HV switching operations

Lead commissioning and energisation activities

Carry out protection relay testing and verification

Provide technical leadership on customer sites

Support outage planning and execution

Ensure compliance with safety rules and operational procedures

Produce commissioning records and technical reports

Support the development of junior HV engineers and technicians

Act as the technical authority for critical electrical works
