Senior Building Surveyor

Conrad Consulting is working with a growing and ambitious commercial property business to recruit an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join their Building Surveying team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a surveyor looking for genuine project ownership, working across a high-quality UK commercial property portfolio and delivering CAT A and CAT B refurbishment and fit-out projects, alongside major refurbishment, development and remedial schemes.

With projects ranging from smaller £300k works through to £10m+ CAT A refurbishments, the role offers excellent exposure to complex, high-profile commercial property projects.

The Role

You will take ownership of projects from initial scope and feasibility through to procurement, construction, completion and handover.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading CAT A and CAT B commercial refurbishment and fit-out projects.
• Managing projects from inception through to completion.
• Preparing scopes, specifications, tender and contract documentation.
• Managing procurement and contractor appointments.
• Contract administration, including instructions, variations, certificates and notices.
• Managing project programmes, budgets, cashflow and commercial performance.
• Appointing and managing consultants, contractors and design teams.
• Carrying out inspections, defect diagnosis and technical assessments.
• Providing technical and commercial advice on refurbishment and development projects.
• Managing planning, Building Control, CDM and Party Wall matters.
• Supporting pre-acquisition surveys and technical due diligence.
• Working alongside Asset Managers and Facilities Management teams.
• Providing technical input into tenant alterations, dilapidations and maintenance matters.
• Managing project risks, reporting progress and maintaining accurate project records.
• Ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard, on programme and within budget.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Senior Building Surveyor with a strong commercial property background and proven experience delivering refurbishment and fit-out projects.

You will ideally have:

• 5+ years' post-qualification experience.
• Strong CAT A and CAT B commercial fit-out/refurbishment experience – essential.
• Experience delivering projects from inception through to completion.
• Strong contract administration and project management experience.
• Excellent technical building surveying knowledge.
• Experience managing contractors, consultants and design teams.
• Good understanding of CDM, Building Regulations, Planning and Party Wall matters.
• Strong commercial awareness and cost-control skills.
• Excellent communication and client-facing abilities.
• MRICS or equivalent qualification is desirable.
