Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Business Development Manager to drive new business and strategic growth within the field of Occupational Hygiene and Environmental Monitoring. This is a unique opportunity to join a leading provider of workplace health services, helping organisations across the UK protect their people, manage workplace health risks, and create safer working environments.

Responsibilities
As a Senior Business Development Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
- New Business Development: Own and convert new sales enquiries, including transactional leads and tender opportunities, into long-term client relationships.
- Market Mapping: Strategically identify and target sectors and organisations most likely to require occupational hygiene services.
- Proactive Outreach: Leverage your professional network and conduct research to generate and win new business opportunities.
- Cross-Selling: Develop opportunities within the existing customer base, particularly organisations already engaged in related services.
- Sales Process Management: Manage the full sales cycle, from qualifying enquiries to scoping requirements, developing proposals, and negotiating to close.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with key strategic accounts, ensuring long-term client satisfaction and renewals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with technical sales specialists, operational teams, and the bid writing team to ensure deliverable and competitive solutions.
- CRM and Reporting: Maintain accurate records in the CRM system and provide regular sales forecasting and pipeline reporting.
- Team Support: Support junior sales colleagues with renewals and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Proven experience as a Senior Business Development Manager or similar role, ideally within occupational hygiene, health and safety, EHS, or a related technical sector.
- Demonstrable success in winning new business and managing the full sales cycle.
- Experience responding to formal tenders and bids.
- Strong technical understanding of occupational hygiene concepts and the ability to discuss them credibly with clients.
- A robust professional network within occupational hygiene, health and safety, or related sectors.
- Excellent relationship management, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work autonomously in a hybrid, home-based role with regular travel.
- Strong CRM discipline, with experience using systems like HubSpot.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly.
Desirable Skills:
- Direct experience in selling occupational hygiene or environmental monitoring services.
- A network of organisations in sectors such as manufacturing, construction, or industrial industries.
- Cross-selling experience within related services like occupational health or health surveillance.
- Relevant technical or business qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, occupational hygiene, or sales-related education).
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior sales team members.
Day-to-Day
Your daily activities will include:
- Managing and converting inbound sales enquiries and tender opportunities.
- Conducting market research to identify potential clients and proactively reaching out to them.
- Developing tailored proposals and negotiating contracts with prospective clients.
- Collaborating with technical and operational teams to ensure client requirements are met.
- Maintaining accurate records in the CRM system and providing regular updates to the Technical Sales Lead.
- Attending client meetings, site visits, and industry events to represent the organisation professionally.
- Staying informed about industry trends, regulations, and competitor activity to refine sales strategies.
