Avanti Recruitment
Senior C++ Developer – Oxford (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)
£75k to £95k
Avanti Recruitment is partnering with an innovative deep-tech software company developing high-performance software used by millions of devices worldwide.
This is an opportunity to join a small team of exceptional engineers working on the company's core C++ platform. The work is technically demanding, with a strong emphasis on performance, correctness and elegant software design rather than rapid feature delivery.
The Role
You'll be working on the core software platform, solving complex engineering problems involving:
- Modern C++ development
- High-performance algorithms and data structures
- Concurrent and multithreaded programming
- Memory management and performance optimisation
- Cross-platform software development across Linux, Windows and macOS
- Designing and maintaining robust, scalable software at the heart of a globally deployed product
This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll spend your time solving difficult technical problems, improving performance and writing clean, maintainable code. You'll be joining a team of experienced software engineers, computer scientists and PhDs who are passionate about solving complex engineering problems.
We're Looking For
You'll ideally have experience with:
- Modern C++ (C++17 or later)
- Performance-critical or systems-level software
- Multithreaded and concurrent programming
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures
- Linux development
- Debugging and optimising complex software
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Database engines
- Compilers
- Distributed systems
- High-performance backend platforms
- Scientific or numerical computing
- Graphics, simulation or game engines
- Low-latency or real-time systems
Why Join?
- Work on a sophisticated C++ codebase deployed at global scale
- Join a highly experienced engineering team where technical excellence is valued
- Tackle genuinely challenging problems in performance, concurrency and software architecture
- Influence the evolution of a core product rather than building peripheral features
- Hybrid working with an Oxford-based team
This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy understanding how software works beneath the surface, care about writing high-quality code, and want to work on technically challenging C++ systems.
