We are working with a leading engineering consultancy to identify talented Senior Civil Engineers to join their growing drainage team.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with experience in flood risk management, water infrastructure, reservoir projects and sustainable drainage solutions to work on a diverse portfolio of challenging and impactful projects across the UK.
 
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions that help communities, clients and infrastructure adapt to increasing flood risk, climate change and evolving water resource challenges.

The Role
 
You will be involved in delivering projects across the full engineering lifecycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design, construction support and asset management.
Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to the design and delivery of flood risk and water management solutions for a range of public and private sector clients.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
·Deliver civil engineering design solutions for flood risk management and water infrastructure projects.
·Develop designs for flood alleviation schemes, reservoirs, storage infrastructure, balancing ponds and attenuation systems.
·Undertake hydraulic and hydrological assessments to support engineering solutions.
·Design earthworks, embankments, spillways, outlet structures and associated civil infrastructure.
·Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications and design documentation.
·Develop sustainable drainage strategies, including SuDS and blue-green infrastructure solutions.
·Support reservoir safety assessments, improvement works and compliance requirements.
·Collaborate with clients, regulators, stakeholders and multidisciplinary project teams.
·Support the management of projects, programmes, budgets and resources where appropriate.
·Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
·Contribute to technical excellence and the continued growth of the team.


About You
 
Essential Requirements
 
·Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
·Experience delivering flood risk, water management, drainage or reservoir-related projects.
·Knowledge of UK engineering standards, industry guidance and regulatory requirements.
·Experience producing technical reports, calculations and design deliverables.
·Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients and project teams.
·Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary environments.


Desirable Experience
 
·Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership.
·Experience working with organisations such as water companies, local authorities, regulators or infrastructure clients.
·Knowledge of reservoir safety principles and relevant legislation.
·Experience using hydraulic modelling software such as Flood Modeller, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW or similar.
·Understanding of environmental assessments, permitting requirements and sustainable water management.
·Experience managing projects, budgets, programmes or client relationships.
