Our leading water sector contractor client is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join their alliance team based out of Peterborough.
The @one Alliance is a pioneering collaboration between Anglian Water and seven industry-leading partners, delivering over half of Anglian Water's capital investment programme across the East of England.
💧 This is an exciting opportunity to take a technical leadership role within the Water Recycling Non-Infrastructure team, delivering innovative, sustainable solutions for critical water and wastewater assets.
🔧 The Role
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership across a portfolio of complex water infrastructure projects, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective designs that meet industry standards, customer requirements, and sustainability objectives.
You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and help drive innovation in digital engineering, modern methods of construction, and low-carbon design.
🌟 Key Responsibilities
✅ Lead civil engineering design activities on water and wastewater treatment projects.
✅ Review and approve calculations, drawings, specifications, and 3D models.
✅ Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and Anglian Water specifications.
✅ Manage design risk and champion health & safety throughout the project lifecycle.
✅ Support construction teams with technical expertise and buildability assessments.
✅ Develop innovative and repeatable engineering solutions, including modular and offsite construction approaches.
✅ Work closely with BIM specialists and multidisciplinary design teams.
✅ Mentor and develop junior engineers, supporting professional growth and chartership progression.
✅ Drive continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and engineering best practice.
✅ Promote sustainability, carbon reduction, and environmentally responsible design solutions. 🌱
🎯 Skills, Experience & Qualifications
We're looking for an experienced engineer with a passion for technical excellence and team leadership.
✔️ Master's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).
✔️ Significant civil design experience within the UK water sector.
✔️ Strong understanding of Design & Build project environments.
✔️ Experience in reinforced concrete design and water-retaining structures.
✔️ Knowledge of drainage systems, buried pipelines, ground engineering, and site infrastructure.
✔️ Experience reviewing and approving engineering designs and technical documentation.
✔️ Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and design-related health & safety requirements.
✔️ Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities.
⭐ Ideally Chartered (ICE or IStructE) or working towards chartership.
⭐ Experience with BIM and 3D design environments.
⭐ Knowledge of steel and masonry design.
⭐ Interest in digital engineering, offsite construction, and sustainable design practices.
