Senior CNC Machinist – £60,000–£70,000 Basic

Ross Frank

Senior CNC Machinist / Programmer

Hayes, West London
£58,000 – £65,000 + Overtime at 1.5x
36-hour working week | 4 days | Flexible hours

Are you an experienced CNC Machinist who knows your way around a machine shop and is looking for the opportunity to take the next step in your career?

I'm recruiting for an established precision engineering business in Hayes with a strong and growing order book across Aerospace, Defence/MOD and other high-precision sectors.

They're investing heavily into their machining capability and are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to become a key member of the team.

You do NOT need to already be a Team Leader.

If you're a strong CNC Setter/Operator or Programmer who can confidently set machines, solve problems and help less experienced machinists when required, they'd be very interested in speaking with you.

For the right person, there is a genuine opportunity to gradually take more responsibility within the machine shop, with the company investing in your development into team leadership and CAD/CAM programming.

The machinery

You'll be working with a varied range of modern CNC equipment, including:

  • Multi-axis Mazak CNC machines
  • Mazak Mill/Turn machines
  • 4 & 5-axis Hurco machining centres
  • HyperMill CAD/CAM
  • Modern CNC milling and turning equipment

Experience across every machine or software package is NOT required.

They're much more interested in finding a genuinely capable machinist with strong setting knowledge who can learn the rest.

What they're looking for

You'll ideally have strong experience in CNC milling, turning or Mill/Turn and be confident with:

  • Setting and operating CNC machinery
  • Proving out jobs and producing precision components
  • Reading engineering drawings
  • Making tooling/offset adjustments
  • Problem solving on the shop floor
  • Working to tight tolerances

Programming experience is highly desirable, but again, you don't need to tick every box.

Experience with Mazak, Mazatrol, Hurco, Fanuc, 4/5-axis machining or Mill/Turn would all be relevant.

Why consider it?

This isn't simply another Setter/Operator position.

The company wants someone they can invest in long-term and potentially develop into a senior point of contact within the machining team.

You'll receive:

  • £60,000 – £70,000 basic depending on experience
  • 36-hour basic working week
  • 4-day working week
  • Flexible working hours
  • Plenty of overtime available at 1.5x
  • Generous holiday allowance
  • Additional holiday with length of service
  • Training and progression into HyperMill CAD/CAM
  • Opportunity to progress into Team Leadership
  • Clean, organised precision engineering environment
  • Long-term work across Aerospace & Defence/MOD

Most importantly, they're prepared to shape the opportunity around the right person.

If you're an experienced CNC Setter/Operator or Programmer and feel ready for more responsibility, even if you've never officially been a Team Leader before, I'd be interested in speaking with you.

Apply and I'll give you a call to discuss the role confidentially.
