THE BUSINESS
Westray Recruitment Group are seeking a Senior CNC Router Operator to join our client in Leeds.
The successful candidate will join the day shift team and play an important role within the production operation. This is a hands-on position requiring strong CNC router experience, confident programming skills and the ability to set and operate machinery to produce high quality components.
The role also offers an element of leadership responsibility, with the successful candidate expected to support the development of apprentices and new CNC operators through on-the-job coaching, competency assessments and cross-training.
As a result, our client is seeking an experienced Senior CNC Router Operator who can take ownership of their work, support the wider production team and help develop less experienced members of the team.
THE ROLE
• You will program, set and operate CNC routers to produce high quality components.

• Read job packs and select the appropriate materials, tooling and machining strategies.
• Maintain workflow and monitor production progress to ensure targets are met.
• Keep the Production Supervisor updated on progress, issues and any relevant production concerns.
• Investigate and troubleshoot issues, supporting maintenance activities where required to minimise machine downtime.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment at all times.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant standards, procedures and requirements.
• Provide training, guidance and mentoring to apprentices and new CNC operators.
• Deliver on-the-job coaching and carry out competency assessments.
• Assist with cross-training across the wider production team.
• Support CNC operators with their daily tasks, offering technical guidance where required.
• Contribute to maintaining an efficient and productive workflow.
• Take technical ownership within the designated area of responsibility.
THE PERSON
• Proven previous experience operating CNC routers.
• You will have confident CNC programming skills.
• Strong experience in setting and operating CNC machinery.
• Ability to read and understand job packs.
• Good knowledge of materials, tooling and machining strategies.
• A proactive approach to problem solving with excellent attention to detail.
• You will be able to troubleshoot issues effectively and support the resolution of production problems.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to provide clear and concise updates to the Production Supervisor.
• Supportive and approachable manner, with an ability to develop and coach others.
• Genuine interest in helping apprentices and less experienced operators to build their skills and confidence.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a wider production team.
• Positive, proactive and reliable approach to work.
• You will understand the importance of maintaining a clean, safe and compliant working environment.
• Pride in producing high-quality components, with a consistently high level of attention to detail.
