Senior Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric / Azure

£60,000 | 2-Year Fixed-Term Contract | North East | Hybrid

Deekay Recruitment is working with a large, established organisation in the North East to recruit an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join its Data & Technology function.

This is a hands-on senior position with responsibility for designing, building and improving the organisation's data infrastructure. You'll work across modern Microsoft data technologies, developing scalable data pipelines, data models and warehouse/lakehouse solutions that provide reliable, high-quality data for analytics and reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design and build scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines from multiple data sources.
• Develop and maintain data models, schemas, data warehouses and lakehouse solutions.
• Work within a modern Microsoft/Azure data environment, including Microsoft Fabric.
• Develop datasets and models to support Power BI and analytics.
• Improve data quality, reliability, automation and performance.
• Contribute to data architecture and technical design decisions.
• Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand data requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the team.
• Ensure appropriate data governance, security and GDPR standards are maintained.

We're particularly interested in candidates with experience across:

• Microsoft Fabric and/or the wider Azure data ecosystem
• SQL
• Azure Data Factory / Synapse / Databricks
• ETL/ELT and data pipeline development
• Data warehousing and Lakehouse architectures
• Dimensional/data modelling
• Python/PySpark
• Power BI data models
• Data quality and governance

This role would suit an established Senior Data Engineer, Lead Data Engineer or experienced Azure Data Engineer who enjoys remaining hands-on while taking greater ownership of technical direction and solution design.

Location: North East – hybrid working with office attendance required across Newcastle and County Durham.

Salary: £60,000
Contract: 2-year fixed-term contract
