White Label Recruitment are working with a leading engineering business that designs and manufactures bespoke automation and material handling systems. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are looking to recruit two Senior Design Engineers to join their expanding design team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale automation projects for globally recognised customers, taking ownership of complex mechanical designs from concept through to manufacture.

The Role

As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading the mechanical design of bespoke conveyor and automation systems, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical standards while supporting manufacturing and installation teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing concept and detailed 3D designs using SolidWorks for bespoke automation and conveyor systems
  • Creating detailed manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials and engineering calculations
  • Managing drawing revisions and maintaining design documentation
  • Conducting design reviews and Design for Manufacture (DFM) checks prior to release
  • Supporting production and site teams by resolving technical design queries
  • Mentoring and developing junior engineers within the design team
  • Contributing to new product introduction (NPI) activities and design improvements
  • Working closely with customers and suppliers to ensure technical requirements are achieved

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience designing special purpose machinery, conveyor systems or material handling equipment
  • Strong SolidWorks experience with excellent 3D modelling and drawing creation skills
  • Good understanding of fabrication, machined components, tolerancing and mechanical engineering principles
  • Experience managing complete design packages with minimal supervision
  • A practical, hands-on approach with the confidence to support manufacturing and resolve shop floor issues

Desirable experience:

  • Experience working on large-scale logistics automation projects
  • Knowledge of CE/UKCA Machinery Regulations, including PUWER and EN ISO 12100
  • FEA or structural analysis experience
