The Opportunity

They are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Design Manager to take a lead role on a circa £40m refurbishment of a prominent Grade II Listed building in Central London.

This is a complex, design-led project requiring someone capable of managing the design process across multiple consultants, stakeholders and specialist subcontractors, while ensuring the design remains aligned with the programme and delivery requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the design process from pre-construction through to delivery.
  • Coordinate consultants, subcontractors and wider project stakeholders.
  • Manage design programmes, deliverables, technical queries and design risk.
  • Chair design coordination meetings and drive actions through to resolution.
  • Review and challenge design information to ensure buildability and compliance.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, Commercial team and site delivery team.
  • Manage design development and changes throughout the project.
  • Ensure design information is delivered in line with the construction programme.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the client, consultants and project team.


The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience as a Design Manager / Senior Design Manager within a main contracting or specialist interiors environment.
  • Experience delivering complex refurbishment, fit-out or technically challenging projects.
  • Ideally experienced on projects valued at £30m+.
  • Strong consultant and subcontractor management experience.
  • Excellent technical, organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience working within listed buildings, heritage or complex refurbishment environments would be highly advantageous.
