The role

You'll lead the development and delivery of Concern Worldwide UK's strategy to keep and grow income from individual cash supporters and Alternative Gifts buyers, through a programme of fundraising appeals and supporter communications. You'll report to the Supporter Development & Legacies Manager and manage two Direct Marketing Executives.

The role is mainly remote. You'll be in the office at least one day a week, attend all in-office staff days, and go to face-to-face meetings with external stakeholders.

What you'll be doing
  • Delivering strategic projects within KPI targets that feed into the Public Fundraising and Engagement annual operational plan
  • Analysing campaign results, spotting trends and making recommendations on marketing direction
  • Line managing two Direct Marketing Executives, including training, coaching, delegation, performance monitoring and appraisals
  • Managing campaigns from start to finish: agency briefs, materials, data selections, copy, approvals, proofing, Donor Care briefings, analysis, reporting, costs and invoices
  • Growing the lifetime value of one-off cash donors through direct mail, email and online marketing
  • Working with the Supporter Development Manager to manage and improve the Alternative Gifts range, fulfilment and product strategy, alongside the Acquisition and Innovation teams
  • Monitoring budgets and helping to set future income and expenditure targets
  • Working with the Analysis, Campaign Planning and Insight team to review campaigns and use insight to increase income
  • Developing donor selection and prompting strategies so supporters receive the next best action
  • Coordinating campaigns by theme, creative or audience to increase impact
  • Working with the Major Donors team to build a mid-value programme and move high-value cash supporters into the Major Donor programme
  • Leading the warm emergency strategy within the Emergency Fundraising Strategy, which can raise an extra £500k to £1m a year
  • Keeping up to date with direct marketing legislation, best practice and regulatory requirements
  • Travelling overseas and in-country when needed, and taking part in sector consortia
What you'll bring

Essential:
  • Experience of carrying out complex procedures
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, including managing financial and budget reports
  • Experience of supporter development fundraising, including cash appeals, newsletters and email marketing
  • Experience of using a fundraising database to analyse direct marketing campaigns and giving trends
  • Experience of working with external suppliers to deliver direct marketing campaigns
  • Strong planning and project management skills
  • The ability to work on your own initiative
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Excellent writing skills, including writing and commenting on fundraising copy
  • Strong organisation skills and experience of managing a varied workload
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A good understanding of donor care and customer service
Desirable:
  • Line management experience
  • Experience of managing a trading or value exchange product
  • Experience of working with overseas teams
  • New product and proposition development, ideally in fundraising
  • Experience of marketing across different regions
  • Knowledge of data protection legislation relating to direct marketing
Additional information

This is a 12-month fixed term contract. New starters join at the bottom of the pay band.

The successful candidate will need to complete a criminal records self-declaration form and a Basic DBS or AccessNI check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily stop you working with Concern. This depends on the role and the circumstances of any offence.
