Senior Electrical Engineer

Our Client has a requirement for a Senior Electrical Engineer / Responsible Electrical Person, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Hertfordshire. This is a site-based role requiring Monday to Friday attendance, with participation in an on-call rota outside normal working hours.

Role Purpose:

Acting as the site's Duty Holder and Responsible Electrical Person, you will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, compliance and development of the site's HV (11kV) and LV electrical infrastructure. The role will ensure statutory compliance, electrical safety, asset integrity and ongoing network improvements across a major manufacturing facility.

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Act as the Responsible Electrical Person and Duty Holder for site electrical systems.
• Ensure electrical safety compliance and safe systems of work.
• Manage HV and LV electrical infrastructure, maintenance and operational activities.
• Approve electrical safety documentation and procedures.
• Develop HV switching schedules and maintain protection settings.
• Lead DSEAR and ATEX compliance programmes.
• Manage authorised personnel and competency requirements.
• Provide electrical engineering SME support to operational and capital projects.
• Drive asset reliability and infrastructure improvement initiatives.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Significant industrial electrical engineering experience including HV systems.
• Experience holding SAEP status for HV networks.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety legislation and compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of DSEAR and ATEX regulations.
• Chartered Engineer status preferred.
• COMPEX qualification desirable.
• Experience producing engineering reports and developing engineering standards.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
