Senior Electrical Project Engineer

Cubed Resourcing

Join one of the world's most technically respected names in the design and manufacture of specialist capital equipment.

As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will take full ownership of complex electrical engineering projects from initial concept through to commercial implementation, testing and handover. You will design and develop cutting-edge control systems, lead the integration of new machinery into the production environment, and provide technical mentorship to the wider Electrical Engineering team. This is a senior, high-impact role for an engineer who is equally comfortable driving innovation at the design stage and providing hands-on technical support in a live production environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: Circa £60,000
Annual Bonus: Up to 15%
Healthcare: Health Cash Plan + BUPA Health Insurance
Annual Leave: 33 days
Pension: Enhanced Pension Scheme
Working Hours: Flexible start and finish times
Location: Shipley (international travel approximately 50 days per year)

What You'll Be Doing

  • Taking full ownership of projects from initial concept and design through to testing, commissioning and commercial handover
  • Designing, developing and testing new control system innovations — both hardware and software — to enhance existing machinery
  • Producing electrical schematics, Bills of Materials and bespoke PLC/HMI software solutions in line with customer specifications
  • Carrying out detailed electrical design, sizing and calculations, and verifying the work of others
  • Leading the seamless transition of newly designed machines from the Development team to the Electrical Engineering team
  • Providing technical guidance, mentoring and support to Electrical Engineers and Junior Engineers
  • Working with the Lead Engineer to ensure all machine designs comply with CE, legal and regulatory requirements
  • Conducting on-site electrical testing of proof-of-concept designs in a production environment
  • Supporting installation and commissioning of new machines within test facilities, both on-site and remotely
  • Providing technical support to external customers to resolve issues and complaints
  • Assisting with international on-site commissioning and start-up of production machines

  • Extensive knowledge of hardware design and PLC/HMI programming across both Rockwell and Siemens platforms
  • Strong working knowledge of safety PLC systems
  • Good understanding of servo drive systems — design, configuration and application
  • Good understanding of automation principles and their safe and effective application

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience as an Electrical Engineer working with high-speed, high-volume production machinery
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the design, programming and commissioning of electrical control systems
  • Proven experience driving new innovations or developing existing control systems
  • Strong background in fault finding, root cause analysis and performance optimisation
