Location: Leicester (Hybrid – 4 days onsite)
Salary: Up to £70,000 + Benefits
  
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Electronic Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Leicester.
  
You will be responsible for the design, development, testing and delivery of embedded electronic products, taking projects from initial specification and concept through to validation, certification and production.
  
Working closely with hardware and software engineers, you will contribute to technically challenging product development projects and have the opportunity to work directly with customers and support projects through the full engineering lifecycle.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electronic hardware from initial specification through to production.
  • Produce schematics and PCB designs for mixed-signal electronic systems.
  • Design and develop analogue and digital circuits, including power supplies, signal conditioning and sensor interfaces.
  • Work with embedded platforms including microcontrollers, processors, sensors and communication interfaces.
  • Prototype, test, debug and validate electronic hardware using laboratory equipment.
  • Support PCB design, bring-up, hardware verification and product qualification.
  • Consider EMC, DFM and DFT throughout the design process.
  • Support compliance and environmental testing where required.
  • Produce technical documentation including design specifications, test procedures and validation reports.
  • Work closely with embedded software engineers and other technical disciplines.
  • Communicate technical solutions and project updates with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers where required.
Requirements
  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • 5+ years' commercial experience in electronic hardware/product design.
  • Strong understanding of analogue and digital electronics and mixed-signal design.
  • Proven experience designing electronic hardware from concept through to production.
  • Strong experience with schematic capture and multi-layer PCB design.
  • Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer; experience with other industry-standard tools will also be considered.
  • Hands-on experience with prototype build, hardware bring-up, testing and debugging.
  • Experience working with MCUs/MPUs, sensors, communication interfaces and embedded systems.
  • Understanding of EMC, DFM, DFT and product compliance.
  • Experience working with engineering standards, qualification or compliance testing would be advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate complex hardware issues.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across engineering teams and with customers.
