Engineering @ 365 are recruiting on behalf of our client, an established manufacturer of high-precision instrumentation used across a variety of demanding technical industries.

The Role

This role is of key importance to the continued growth and development of the business. The ideal candidate will bring solid industrial experience in electronic control systems for electro-mechanical equipment, and will be comfortable splitting their time between desk-based design work and hands-on activity supporting the design, testing and ongoing improvement of the company's product range.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting the engineering and manufacture of high-value, customised equipment.
  • Working closely with manufacturing colleagues to ensure new electronic designs are suitable for external production and assembly
  • Supporting products throughout their full lifecycle, from initial design through to long-term in-service support
  • Occasionally travelling to customer sites, suppliers or other group locations in support of business needs
  • Playing an active role within the wider engineering team, with a particular focus on electronics

What You'll Need

  • Industrial experience developing control systems for electro-mechanical equipment, with a good appreciation of mechanical principles
  • Solid grounding in analogue and digital electronics, with the ability to apply this to industrial control applications
  • Confidence reading wiring diagrams and electronic schematics, with practical experience of circuit and PCB design, including prototyping
  • Experience developing hardware and firmware for microcontroller-based systems, with a good understanding of data communications
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in written documentation
  • Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of tasks while working well within a team
  • A flexible, adaptable approach with a genuine willingness to learn new skills
  • Willing to get hands-on with practical tasks such as cable assembly, soldering and rework
  • Able to help coordinate colleagues during busy or pressured periods
  • Good awareness of safe working practices in a technical/engineering environment

Desirable Skills

  • Used Altium and Solidworks
  • Understanding of product development methodologies and lifecycle
  • Knowledge of motor types and their control

Qualification

  • HNC/HND/Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering (or higher), or demonstrable ability through experience
