Senior Environmental Advisor

Shirley Parsons Ltd

We’re partnered with a leading UK infrastructure business to appoint an experienced Senior Environmental Advisor supporting two major infrastructure programmes.

This is an opportunity to take your environmental expertise beyond compliance and make a genuine impact across complex, high-profile projects. You’ll work closely with project managers, operational teams, clients, regulators and supply chain partners - providing trusted advice, challenging where necessary and helping teams find smarter ways to reduce environmental impact.

What you'll be doing:

  • Influence Major Projects – Provide expert environmental advice across contracts, supporting teams from planning and pre-construction through to delivery.
  • Drive Environmental Performance – Lead site inspections, audits and monitoring, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring actions are delivered effectively.
  • Manage Risk & Compliance – Advise project teams on environmental risks, controls, legislation and client requirements, helping maintain high standards across live projects.
  • Turn Challenges Into Solutions – Support investigations into incidents, complaints and non-conformances, identifying root causes and driving practical corrective actions.
  • Champion Better Ways of Working – Develop initiatives that improve sustainability, reduce environmental impacts and promote best practice across major infrastructure programmes.

Who they're looking for:

  • An Experienced Environmental Professional – You’ll have significant experience in an environmental advisory role within construction, infrastructure, utilities or a similar operational environment.
  • Solid Technical Knowledge – You’ll have a key understanding of environmental legislation and management systems, with experience in inspections, audits, monitoring and investigations.
  • A Confident Influencer – You’ll be comfortable engaging with everyone from site teams and project managers to clients, regulators and external stakeholders - providing pragmatic advice and challenging when required.
  • Major Infrastructure Experience – You’ll have experience working across major infrastructure, construction, utilities or similarly complex operational environments, with the ability to provide effective environmental support across large-scale projects.
  • Proactive & Improvement-Focused – You’ll be organised, able to manage competing priorities across multiple projects and genuinely motivated by improving environmental performance, not simply maintaining compliance. A relevant environmental qualification/degree and professional membership are desirable, alongside a full UK driving licence.

Why this opportunity?

You’ll have the chance to use your expertise across two major infrastructure programmes, working at the heart of project delivery and helping shape how environmental challenges are managed.

Alongside the opportunity to make a real difference, the role offers a competitive salary, pension, healthcare, 24–26 days’ holiday and a range of additional benefits, including retail discounts, cycle to work and an Employee Assistance Programme.
