Senior Environmental & Sustainability Advisor
About The Role
We are looking for a site-based Senior Environmental & Sustainability Advisor to join our construction team on the Heathrow Project. You will support the Environmental & Sustainability Manager and Construction Team in ensuring environmental and sustainability requirements are effectively implemented across the project.
You will help deliver the client’s carbon, environmental and sustainability requirements, supporting their implementation and monitoring site activities to ensure effective environmental controls are in place. You will also work with the design team to confirm that carbon reduction opportunities are considered and that designs comply with environmental standards.

Key Accountabilities
- Contribute to the achievement of environmental and sustainability objectives in line with Ferrovial Construction UK policies, procedures and project requirements.
- Assist in the preparation, implementation and review of environmental management documentation, including Environmental Management Plans, Site Waste Management Plans and Dewatering Management Plans.
- Build strong relationships with project teams, supply chain partners and stakeholders, maintaining a visible presence on site through regular visits and engagement with construction activities.
- Develop and deliver environmental briefings, communications and awareness initiatives, providing advice on environmental requirements, best practice and innovative solutions to support project delivery.
- Collaborate with designers, project teams and supply chain partners to identify and implement carbon reduction and sustainability opportunities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept design through to construction.
- Monitor environmental compliance across site activities and documentation, supporting audits, inspections and assurance activities to ensure adherence to project requirements, Ferrovial standards and relevant legislation.
- Assist in the preparation of environmental and sustainability performance reports for senior project stakeholders.
- Support the development and management of environmental performance monitoring systems and tools, including SmartWaste and internal reporting platforms.
- Assist with environmental incident investigations, ensuring thorough evidence gathering, root cause analysis and the effective close-out of corrective actions.
- Support the Project Environmental Manager in delivering environmental assurance, investigations and continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members, including graduates and early career professionals.
- Ensure client and stakeholder environmental requirements are effectively communicated, understood and embedded throughout project delivery.
- Promote and uphold Ferrovial Construction UK's Vision, Values and sustainability commitments, taking ownership of assigned responsibilities and delivering work to a high standard.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong experience in an environmental and sustainability role within the construction, infrastructure or major projects sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams and supply chain partners.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet project deadlines.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of environmental and sustainability challenges within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

-Experience in contaminated land assessment and management.
-CSCS Card.
