Senior Estimator at Axis CLC

As a Senior Estimator, the role is responsible for securing profitable, high-value, long-term strategic tenders through the provision of accurate, compliant and competitively priced cost schedules and framework opportunities, supporting Axis CLC's growth aspirations.

Accountable for the timely submission of commercial proposals, including the preparation of robust, arithmetically accurate cost estimates covering all aspects of planned maintenance works, whole-house retrofit, energy-efficiency programmes, NHF Schedules, block refurbishment projects, dayworks and preliminaries.

Strong time management, preparation and communication skills are essential to ensure strict compliance with tender management and adjudication processes, bid handover requirements and commercial governance arrangements.

The Senior Estimator will work closely with operational teams, commercial colleagues and technical stakeholders, the Senior Estimator ensures pricing reflects all relevant commercial considerations on each bid, including pricing works from first principles where required. Previous experience of tender management processes and estimating software would be advantageous.

What You’ll Do

• Develop prices from schedules of rates, drawings, specification and cost build-up for subcontract, direct delivery and labour only based on a labour, plant, materials, preliminaries and oncosts.

• Provide planned works solutions across all elements of planned maintenance works, retrofit decarbonisation solutions and block refurbishment works.

• Compile compliant, arithmetically correct tenders, identify commercial opportunities and risks, raise clarifications, explain and discuss assumptions.

• Manage tender queries, RFIs and identify specification gaps in conjunction with design and commercial teams

• Issue enquiries across the sector, analyse subcontractor returns, benchmark rates and build competitive sustainable pricing models

• Work with specialist subcontractors, suppliers and manufacturers

• Contribute commercially and professionally throughout adjudication meetings

• Propose adjustments to NHF Schedules and maintain rate libraries

• Identify cost-effective, compliant solutions to improve margin, performance and value outcomes.

• Lead structured handover meetings to operational and commercial colleagues, covering your commercial solutions, scope, risk, opportunity and assumptions

• Maintain accurate estimating records, version control and audit trails

• Support win/loss reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

• Work closely with Commercial Director to support knowledge transfer across the wider group
