We're supporting an established civil engineering contractor are looking for an experienced and commercially aware Estimator to Senior Estimator to join their team. The business has grown consistently through strong relationships, repeat work on estabish frameworks, and a collaborative approach.

This is an office-based role suited to someone who enjoys working collaboratively, taking ownership of tenders, and contributing to the continued growth of the business. You’ll play a key role in the pre-construction phase, producing accurate and competitive estimates from drawings and specifications across a range of civil engineering projects, particularly within local authority frameworks.
What you'll be doing day to day:
- Preparing detailed cost estimates from drawings and specifications
- Reviewing tender documents and identifying key risks and opportunities
- Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
- Collaborating with internal teams to ensure accurate and commercially viable submissions
- Supporting bid submissions and contributing to tender strategy
- Working closely with senior management to align estimates with business objectives
- Managing multiple tenders and deadlines effectively
What they are looking for:
- 5–7 years’ experience within a civil engineering or construction estimating role
- (HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar)
- The ability to price from first principles
- Proven experience working from drawings and specifications at tender stage
- Experience within local authority projects (highways, drainage, bridges, etc.)
- Ability to hit the ground running and work with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to support and mentor others
