We have a fantastic new job opportunity at Ocular for a technically minded engineer with hands-on experience in CCTV, auto electricals, electronics, vehicle technology or a similar technical engineering environment.

SALARY: €50,000 - €55,000 per annum, plus door-to-door travel pay + Benefits

LOCATION: Republic of Ireland, Field Based, with travel to customer sites across the region and occasional travel outside the region and to Head Office in Nottingham as required

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Mainly day work, although night work and overnight stays may be required. Shift patterns will be discussed at interview

JOB OVERVIEW

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically driven Senior Field Service Engineer to join Ocular’s remote engineering team supporting a broad customer base across the vehicle industry.

As the Senior Field Service Engineer you will install, maintain and repair vehicle CCTV systems and other driver aid systems, supporting daily fault requests, planned preventative maintenance and installation activity.  You will also provide training, guidance and mentorship to junior and trainee team members.

The Senior Field Service Engineer will need a flexible approach, strong communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude, with full training provided to support continued development in the role.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Senior Field Service Engineer include:

  • Install and Maintain Systems: Carry out installation, servicing, PPM and fault rectification work on vehicle CCTV systems and associated driver aid systems

  • Support Customer Service Levels: Complete service activity within agreed timescales, helping to meet customer expectations and service level agreements

  • Communicate Clearly: Maintain clear and professional communication between the field, customers, garage engineers, the helpdesk and regional management

  • Complete Accurate Reports: Complete PDA reports before leaving customer premises and provide quality reporting to internal teams

  • Support Technical Standards: Follow best practice guides and contribute to continuous improvement in technical skills, workmanship and customer handling

  • Assist with Training & Development: Support the training and development of field-based engineers, providing guidance and mentorship to junior and trainee team members as required

  • Manage Stock and Equipment: Take responsibility for stock control and ensure customer and company equipment is handled with care

  • Follow Health and Safety Requirements: Maintain awareness of and adhere to company and customer health and safety policies

  • Build Working Relationships: Develop effective working relationships with customers, internal teams and CCTV analysts to support day-to-day operations

  • Support Regional Operations: Carry out reasonable requests from regional management and check and respond to emails in a professional manner

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Experience in CCTV, auto electricals, electronics, vehicle technology or a similar hands-on technical engineering environment

  • Relevant practical engineering or technical experience

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to understand and translate customer requirements

  • Basic IT competence

  • Full driving licence

  • Flexible approach to travel, night work and occasional overnight stays

  • Professional, customer-focused approach with a positive can-do attitude

DESIRABLE

  • Strong knowledge of DVRs and associated components

  • Electrical qualification, such as NVQ, BTEC or apprentice training

  • GCSEs or equivalent, preferably including English, Maths or Science

  • Knowledge of the bus industry, CCTV systems or electrical systems
