This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified finance professional who thrives on influencing decision-making, partnering with senior stakeholders, and driving business improvement across a dynamic and complex organisation.
This role is a full time, permanent role based at our Hoddesdon head office.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you'll play a pivotal role in providing financial leadership and strategic support to the VolkerServices business. Acting as the lead finance partner to Heads of Department, you'll translate financial data into meaningful business insights, challenge thinking, and help drive operational and financial performance.
You'll take ownership of management reporting, budgeting and forecasting activities while leading a team of finance professionals to deliver excellent financial support across the business.
About our role
Business Partnering & Commercial Support
- Act as the trusted finance partner to VolkerServices departmental leaders.
- Provide financial insight, challenge and guidance to support business decisions.
- Identify risks, opportunities and performance improvement initiatives.
- Support strategic projects through financial modelling and business case development.
- Present financial performance and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Financial Reporting & Control
- Own the monthly management accounts process.
- Deliver accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting.
- Maintain strong financial controls, governance and compliance.
- Support statutory accounts preparation and annual audits.
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes and controls.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes.
- Challenge assumptions and key cost drivers with budget holders.
- Improve forecast accuracy and financial planning.
- Support long-term strategic decision-making and performance management.
Analysis & Performance Insight
- Develop meaningful KPIs, dashboards and management information.
- Analyse operational and financial performance trends.
- Deliver actionable insights that support business growth and efficiency.
- Produce ad hoc reporting and analysis for senior management and Group requirements.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach and develop a team of qualified and trainee accountants.
- Support professional development and qualification goals.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
About you
- ACA or ACCA qualification, coupled with Degree education or equivalent experience
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role
- Proven experience partnering with senior operational stakeholders
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial control and management reporting expertise
- Experience driving business improvement and change initiatives
- Excellent analytical and financial modelling skills
- Previous experience leading and developing finance teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
