An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join a growing engineering team developing advanced software solutions for next-generation space missions.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, mission-critical systems within the space sector, contributing to the design, development and maintenance of high-quality software platforms that support critical operational capabilities.

We are seeking a talented software engineer with strong full stack development experience and a background in developing reliable software solutions within demanding environments such as space, defence, aerospace, telecommunications, automotive or other safety-critical industries.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer, you will:
  • Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using modern programming languages.
  • Architect and develop responsive, user-focused frontend applications using modern frameworks.
  • Design, manage and optimise databases to ensure performance, reliability and data integrity.
  • Build and maintain containerised applications using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines to support efficient software delivery.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to define, design and deliver new capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot complex software issues across the full technology stack.
  • Contribute to Agile development practices, including sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.
  • Support continuous improvement of software engineering processes, tools and practices.

Essential Experience

The successful candidate will have:
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience developing software for mission-critical or high-reliability applications.
  • Strong full stack software development experience.
  • Extensive object-oriented programming experience using languages such as Java, Python or C++.
  • Experience developing modern frontend applications using frameworks such as React.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

Technical Skills

Strong experience in several of the following areas is highly desirable:
  • Containerisation technologies including Docker, Kubernetes and Docker Compose.
  • CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI or GitHub Actions.
  • SQL databases and data management.
  • Git and modern version control workflows.
  • Cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Software security best practices.
  • Space communication standards such as CCSDS or ECSS protocols.
  • Ground segment software systems.
  • Space data standards such as SCOS-2000 or XTCE.
