The Role
A well-established and growing environmental consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior Geoenvironmental Consultant to join their Leeds team.
The role offers the opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of contaminated land and geoenvironmental projects, with responsibility for delivering technically robust investigations and assessments from initial planning through to completion.
You will work closely with clients, contractors and other technical specialists, while also supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and delivering Phase 1 and Phase 2 contaminated land assessments.
- Preparing Preliminary Risk Assessments, Environmental Site Assessments and Conceptual Site Models.
- Planning, specifying and managing intrusive ground investigations.
- Undertaking site work including soil and groundwater sampling, trial pitting and borehole investigations.
- Interpreting laboratory and ground investigation data.
- Preparing factual and interpretive technical reports.
- Developing remediation strategies and preparing remediation and verification reports.
- Providing technical advice on contaminated land and geoenvironmental risks.
- Managing project budgets, programmes and subcontractors.
- Liaising with clients, regulators, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Preparing fee proposals and contributing to tenders and business development activities.
- Reviewing technical work and providing support and mentoring to junior consultants.
- Ensuring projects are delivered to the required technical, commercial and health and safety standards.
Requirements
- Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Geology or a related discipline.
- Strong experience within geoenvironmental or contaminated land consultancy.
- Experience delivering contaminated land assessments and ground investigations.
- Good understanding of UK contaminated land legislation, guidance and relevant British Standards.
- Strong technical report writing and data interpretation skills.
- Experience managing projects and communicating directly with clients.
- Comfortable undertaking site-based work alongside office-based technical delivery.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Chartered status or a clear progression towards Chartership would be advantageous.
