Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 (depending on experience)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a well-established specialist geotechnical consultancy with an excellent reputation in the quarrying, mining and extractive industries. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on technically challenging projects across the UK, providing expert geotechnical advice to quarry operators, developers and infrastructure clients.
The successful candidate will take a leading role in delivering a wide range of geotechnical projects, with a particular focus on quarry and rock engineering. You will manage projects from initial site investigation through to design, reporting and client liaison while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the continued growth of the team.
The Role:
- Manage and deliver geotechnical investigations for quarrying, mining and infrastructure projects.
- Undertake quarry inspections, rock face assessments and slope stability analyses.
- Design and supervise ground investigations in accordance with BS 5930 and Eurocode 7.
- Produce factual and interpretative geotechnical reports.
- Carry out geotechnical risk assessments and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Assess earthworks, excavations, retaining structures and foundation conditions.
- Provide technical advice to clients on quarry development, restoration and operational stability.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and engineering geologists.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
Requirements:
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally with exposure to quarrying, mining or rock engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, soil mechanics and slope stability.
- Experience managing ground investigations and interpreting geotechnical data.
- Excellent technical report writing and project management skills.
- Chartered status (ICE or the Geological Society) or working towards Chartership is desirable.
- Full UK driving licence.
