Senior Governance Officer
James Stevens Associates
James Stevens Associates are delighted to be supporting a large, well regulated and vibrant housing provider to appoint a Senior Governance Officer during a particularly important period of organisational change and integration.
This is a hands-on governance role within a friendly, experienced team. You’ll support the effective operation of the Board and committees while helping to maintain strong governance processes throughout a complex merger programme.
- Senior Governance Officer
- Walsall Area | West Midlands | Hybrid | 2 days per week on-site with 3 days from home
- £40,000 - 45,000
- 16 month fixed-term contract
The role will include:
• Coordinating Board and committee meetings from beginning to end
• Producing agendas and papers, chasing reports and securing approvals
• Taking accurate minutes and completing post-meeting actions
• Supporting policy reviews and annual effectiveness assessments
• Managing document execution and signing processes
• Contributing to governance integration and process redesign
• Supporting succession planning, Board recruitment and development
• Potentially providing oversight to a Governance Administrator
We’re looking for someone who can quickly take ownership of a busy workload and deliver consistently. You’ll be comfortable rolling your sleeves up, working at pace and building credible relationships with senior leaders and Board members.
Previous governance experience within social housing would be particularly valuable, including an understanding of the regulatory environment and relevant codes of governance.
However, formal qualifications and previous line-management experience are not essential.
This could suit:
• An experienced Governance Officer ready for greater responsibility
• A Governance Manager who enjoys delivery but no longer wants significant people-management responsibility
• A governance contractor or fixed-term professional accustomed to joining organisations during periods of change
The successful candidate must be able to attend the Walsall office twice each week.
