Senior Health & Safety Advisor

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join a well-established construction business delivering a range of major projects across London. This is a predominantly site-based role, supporting operational teams to maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance while ensuring compliance with current legislation and industry best practice.

The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, subcontractors and clients, providing practical advice and guidance to help foster a proactive safety culture across multiple live sites.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Management
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the company's health and safety management systems.
- Provide practical health and safety advice to project teams, management and subcontractors.
- Assist with project mobilisation, including reviewing construction phase plans, risk assessments and method statements.
- Promote compliance with company procedures and statutory requirements across all projects.

Site Auditing & Compliance
- Carry out regular site inspections and audits to monitor health and safety performance.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and other site communications.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are identified and implemented.
- Produce clear and accurate reports for internal stakeholders and clients.
- Support external audits, accreditations and pre-qualification submissions where required.

Stakeholder Engagement
- Build positive working relationships with site teams, subcontractors and clients.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Liaise with clients, consultants and regulatory bodies as necessary.
- Encourage collaborative working to achieve consistently high safety standards across all projects.

Training & Continuous Improvement
- Identify health and safety training requirements across projects.
- Support the delivery of internal training sessions, inductions and awareness campaigns.
- Champion a positive safety culture that promotes engagement, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and support junior members of the health and safety team where appropriate.

Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have:
- A recognised qualification in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- At least five years' experience within the construction industry, ideally working on large-scale commercial or mixed-use projects.
- A sound understanding of UK health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations and current industry best practice.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities across multiple sites.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to influence positive safety behaviours.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
