Senior Heritage Town Planner

Location: London

Salary: £50-60,000

An excellent opportunity is available for a Senior Heritage Planner to join a well-established and respected independent planning consultancy based in London. The consultancy works with a broad range of private and public sector clients throughout the UK, providing specialist planning advice and commercially driven solutions across a diverse range of sectors. Its areas of expertise include heritage and conservation, listed buildings, planning applications, appeals, development management, site assessments and large-scale development projects.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Heritage Planner to join a successful, expanding and supportive team.

  • Providing specialist heritage and planning advice across a varied portfolio of projects.
  • Advising on projects involving listed buildings, conservation areas, historic properties and heritage-sensitive sites.
  • Preparing and contributing to heritage statements, assessments and planning documentation.
  • Working closely with clients, architects, local planning authorities and other professional consultants.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of effective planning and heritage strategies.
  • Taking responsibility for managing projects, deadlines and client instructions from inception through to completion.
  • Contributing to the continued growth and development of the consultancy's heritage planning service.
  • Working on a range of interesting and challenging projects across London and the wider UK.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong professional experience within heritage planning, conservation or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience working with listed buildings and conservation areas.
  • Good knowledge of UK heritage legislation, planning policy and relevant guidance, including the NPPF.
  • Experience preparing or contributing to heritage statements, heritage assessments and planning applications.
  • A strong understanding of the UK planning system and development management process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Confident managing relationships with clients, consultants and local planning authorities.
  • MRTPI, IHBC or a relevant heritage, conservation or planning qualification would be advantageous.
