Senior HR Business Partner – Middlesbrough Council

Fox Morris Group are currently working with Middlesbrough Council to recruit an experienced Senior HR Business Partner on a long-term contract basis.

This is a senior-level opportunity for an experienced HR professional who can operate strategically, influence senior managers and provide expert advice across complex employee relations and organisational change matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic HR leadership, challenging and influencing managers to develop greater management independence and improve ways of working.
  • Lead by example in demonstrating the Council's values and expected behaviours, positively influencing managers and employees across the organisation.
  • Provide specialist HR advice and guidance across areas including:
    • TUPE
    • Complex Employee Relations
    • Trade Union matters
    • Job Evaluation
    • Pensions
    • Equality & Diversity
    • Organisational Reviews
    • Redundancy and consultation processes
  • Manage and provide leadership to staff within the HR Business Unit.
  • Build strong and effective relationships with service areas, senior managers and the Wider Leadership Team.
  • Identify areas for improvement in management practice, challenge existing approaches and develop innovative solutions to complex HR matters.
  • Represent the HR Service and Council at regional meetings and events.
  • Develop professional networks and external partnerships to share best practice and identify new ways of working.

Essential Requirements

  • CIPD Level 7 qualification
  • Significant experience operating at Senior HR Business Partner level or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of complex employee relations and organisational change.
  • Experience providing strategic HR advice to senior management and leadership teams.
  • Ability to confidently challenge, influence and advise senior stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Public sector / Local Authority experience would be highly advantageous.
