Senior HR Shared Services Administrator

Location: Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire (with occasional travel to other sites)
Salary: £35,000–£38,000 + excellent benefits
Hybrid working – 3 days per week in the office

We are recruiting for a Senior HR Shared Services Administrator to join a well-established, internationally recognised engineering and technology business. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative HR team, take ownership of complex employee lifecycle activities and play a key role in delivering an efficient, high-quality HR service.

Working as a senior member of the Shared Services team, you’ll provide expert administrative support, guide employees and managers through HR processes, act as an escalation point for more complex queries and help drive continuous improvement across the function.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Employee lifecycle management: Coordinating and managing starters, leavers, contractual changes, promotions, transfers and onboarding activities, ensuring all documentation is accurate and delivered on time.
  • HR advice and query management: Acting as a key point of contact for employee and manager queries, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures and processes, and escalating more complex matters where appropriate.
  • HR systems and data: Maintaining accurate employee records, managing HR system updates and ensuring compliance with GDPR and internal procedures.
  • Compliance and reporting: Coordinating right-to-work checks, probation monitoring, documentation audits and HR reporting, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Payroll and benefits: Supporting payroll changes, benefits administration and annual benefits processes, working closely with relevant internal teams.
  • Continuous improvement: Reviewing and improving HR processes, maintaining standard operating procedures and supporting HR projects and system enhancements.
  • Team support: Providing day-to-day guidance to colleagues, sharing knowledge, supporting training and helping the team maintain high service standards.

About You

You’ll be an experienced HR administrator or coordinator who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering an accurate, responsive and customer-focused service.

You’ll ideally bring:

Experience in a high-volume HR administration or HR Shared Services environment.

A strong understanding of HR processes and employment legislation.

Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Confident communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with employees, managers and HR colleagues.

The ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and handle confidential information with discretion.

A proactive, process-focused approach, with an interest in continuous improvement.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.

CIPD Level 3, or a willingness to work towards it, would be advantageous.

Experience using Workday would be beneficial.

A full UK driving licence and access to a car, as occasional travel between sites is required.

Salary and Benefits

The salary is £35,000–£38,000, alongside an excellent benefits package including:

9% non-contributory pension.

Discretionary bonus scheme.

Subsidised BUPA private medical insurance.

Life assurance at 12 times annual salary.

25 days’ annual leave, plus the option to take up to five days of unpaid leave.

Hybrid working, with three days per week in the office.

Variable working arrangements, with the option of a four-and-a-half or five-day working week. The four-and-a-half-day arrangement includes alternating Friday and weekday half-days.

Health Cash Plan and Employee Assistance Programme.

Cycle to Work Scheme and access to fitness centres.

Employee discounts and a subsidised restaurant and coffee shop.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR administrator or coordinator ready to take on a senior role within a supportive, professional HR team, combining hands-on employee lifecycle administration with query resolution, process improvement and team support.
