Senior HSE Advisor

My clients are currently seeking a Senior HSE Advisor to join their highly skilled Health, Safety and Environmental Team.
The successful candidate will play a key strategic role in developing, implementing and overseeing workplace Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal corporate sustainability objectives.
As a senior member of the team, the successful candidate will provide expert guidance to management, lead risk mitigation activities and support the development of a strong zero-harm safety culture across the organisation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement HSE strategies aligned with business objectives
- Work with senior management to drive HSE performance and promote a positive safety culture
- Mentor and support junior HSE personnel
- Act as a key contact for regulatory bodies and external auditors
- Lead risk assessments, JSAs, site inspections and hazard identification activities
- Ensure compliance with HSE legislation and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems
- Manage environmental compliance, including waste, emissions and permitting
- Lead investigations into incidents and near-misses, including root-cause analysis
- Monitor HSE KPIs and report performance to senior management
- Manage corrective and preventive actions and statutory reporting
- Develop and deliver HSE training for employees and contractors
- Oversee emergency response plans, drills and contractor safety processes
- Support workplace ergonomics and industrial hygiene programmes
It is essential that the successful candidate:
- Has significant HSE experience with strong knowledge of relevant legislation and compliance
- Has experience conducting risk assessments, JSAs, inspections and incident investigations
- Has excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
- Can influence and advise senior management effectively
- Has experience mentoring and developing HSE personnel
- Has experience delivering HSE training
- Has a proactive approach to identifying and managing workplace risks
It is desirable that the successful candidate:
- Has experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
- Has experience within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment
- Has experience managing environmental and contractor HSE requirements
- Has experience working with regulatory bodies and external auditors
- Has knowledge of industrial hygiene and workplace ergonomics
- Has experience monitoring HSE KPIs and performance metrics
You will work closely with senior and executive management, site teams, contractors and HSE personnel across the organisation.
You will provide strategic HSE leadership and expert guidance, while mentoring junior team members and working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure the highest standards of Health, Safety and Environmental performance are maintained.
