Senior Land Surveyor

Permanent

Location – Telford & Surrounding Areas

Salary  Negotiable, Dependent on experience

One of the most respected geospatial and geomatic surveying consultancies in the UK, this chartered surveying practice operates across rail, highways, bridges, aviation, estates, energy, and environmental sectors, delivering topographical surveys, mobile mapping, 3D laser scanning, underground utility mapping, UAV aerial surveys, scan-to-BIM, digital twins, GIS data capture, and automated monitoring. Operating across the UK from their Telford base, the business is recognised for applying cutting-edge technology and lean workflows to complex infrastructure projects, maintaining the highest professional and quality standards throughout. They are now seeking an experienced Senior Land Surveyor to support their growing highways and infrastructure survey programme.

The Senior Surveyor will work closely with Project Managers and the Head of Department, playing a key role in planning and executing small to large-scale topographical and highways surveys across diverse environments. Reporting directly to senior leadership, this role carries responsibility for technical delivery, data processing, team mentoring, and ensuring QA/QC compliance on every project.  Experience with highways is not necessarily required for this role; a background in topographical surveying is essential, ideally in the infrastructure industry.

Responsibility & Duties

  • Undertake small to large-scale topographical and highway surveys
  • Operate total stations, GPS/GNSS, and mobile mapping systems on site
  • Post-process survey data including traversing, levelling, and scale factors
  • Produce CAD drawings and survey reports from collected field data
  • Mentor and support junior team members as Senior Surveyor (Highways)
  • Manage, maintain, and calibrate survey equipment correctly
  • Ensure full QA/QC compliance and adherence to company processes

Experience & Qualification

  • Proven experience in land, topographic, and surveying
  • Proficient with total stations, GPS/GNSS, and laser scanning equipment
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or equivalent CAD/GIS software
  • Strong understanding of surveying principles and geospatial data
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and stay away when required
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong client communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence essential; relevant degree preferred
