Senior Maintenance Engineer

Location: Woking, Surrey (commutable from Guildford, Farnborough, Camberley, Bracknell, Leatherhead, Weybridge, Aldershot and surrounding areas)

Salary: Up to £36,000 per annum + Overtime + Monthly Bonus

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm (40 hours per week, flexi hours available)

Syntech Recruitment are proud to be supporting a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in their search for a Senior Maintenance Engineer to join their facilities team.

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys a varied workload across building maintenance, facilities management and contractor coordination. You'll spend the majority of your time on the tools carrying out repairs and improvements across the site, while also supervising one Maintenance & Facilities Assistant and coordinating external contractors.

This position would suit someone from a manufacturing, industrial, commercial or facilities maintenance background who enjoys taking ownership of a site and ensuring everything runs smoothly.

The Role

As a Senior Maintenance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out hands-on building and facilities maintenance across the site
  • Completing repairs to building fabric, fixtures, fittings and general site infrastructure
  • Performing basic plumbing, painting, decorating and general maintenance tasks
  • Maintaining the grounds including basic gardening and external upkeep
  • Setting up meeting rooms and supporting internal site moves where required
  • Completing regular inspections of buildings, grounds and facilities
  • Coordinating planned preventative maintenance (PPM) with external contractors
  • Managing reactive maintenance works, obtaining quotations and raising purchase orders
  • Reviewing RAMS, permits and contractor documentation
  • Monitoring contractor performance to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently
  • Supervising and providing day-to-day guidance to a Maintenance & Facilities Assistant
  • Assisting with occasional machine shop maintenance when required
  • Supporting occasional planned shutdowns and weekend maintenance activities (paid at overtime rates)

The Ideal Candidate

The successful Senior Maintenance Engineer will have:

  • Previous experience in facilities, building or maintenance engineering
  • Strong hands-on maintenance skills across a variety of building services
  • Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, industrial or commercial environment
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring another member of staff
  • Experience coordinating contractors and external service providers
  • Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • A proactive, practical approach with the ability to prioritise workloads
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Electrical qualifications, forklift licences or specialist maintenance certifications are beneficial but not essential, as training can be provided.
