Senior/Managing Quantity Surveyor

An immediate opportunity, outside IR35, exists for an experienced Senior / Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and growing rail infrastructure contractor delivering a major programme of rail and civil engineering works in Dublin.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take full commercial ownership of a £30m NEC4 Option A rail project, managing all commercial activities from quotation stage through to final account whilst becoming the key commercial interface with the client. You will also provide leadership and oversight to a team of Quantity Surveyors managing smaller rail and infrastructure schemes, ensuring commercial best practice is maintained across the portfolio.

This role would suit an experienced Senior QS looking to step into a Managing QS position, or an established Managing Quantity Surveyor seeking a high-profile rail project offering both project ownership and wider team leadership responsibilities.

 

Key Responsibilities include -

  • Full commercial ownership of a £30m rail infrastructure project.
  • Manage all Quantity Surveying functions from quotations and procurement through to final account settlement.
  • Administration of NEC4 Option A contracts.
  • Management of compensation events, early warnings, change control and contractual correspondence.
  • Preparation of monthly CVRs, forecasts and commercial reports.
  • Cost management, value engineering and margin protection.
  • Procurement and commercial management of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Build strong, long-lasting relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Lead commercial meetings and negotiations.
  • Provide strategic commercial support to operational and project delivery teams.
  • Mentor, guide and manage Quantity Surveyors delivering smaller projects.
  • Ensure robust commercial controls, governance and reporting procedures are maintained.
  • Work closely with project management teams to drive programme and commercial outcomes.
  • Support business growth through effective commercial management and repeat clients

 

Requirements for this opportunity includes

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager within rail, civil engineering or infrastructure for a Tier one or major Principal Contractor.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts, particularly NEC4 Option A.
  • Experience managing projects valued at £20m+.
  • Demonstrable client-facing experience and the ability to build confidence with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial management, forecasting and reporting skills.
  • Experience leading, mentoring and developing commercial teams.
  • Ability to operate autonomously while supporting wider business objectives.
  • Rail infrastructure experience is essential.
