About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing building services consultancy delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects.

Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will lead the mechanical design of projects from concept through to completion, providing technical excellence, client-facing leadership, and mentoring support to junior engineers.

This role is ideal for an ambitious engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, developing client relationships, and contributing to the continued growth of a dynamic consultancy.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical design of building services projects across various sectors, including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and mixed-use developments.
Develop innovative and energy-efficient HVAC, domestic water, public health, and sustainable building services solutions.
Prepare design calculations, specifications, reports, and technical documentation.
Manage projects through all RIBA stages from feasibility and concept design to construction and commissioning.
Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
Attend project meetings and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
Undertake site inspections and monitor installation quality and compliance.
Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.
Ensure designs comply with current regulations, standards, and sustainability targets.


Requirements
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
Significant experience within a Building Services Consultancy environment.
Strong knowledge of HVAC system design, heating and cooling systems, ventilation, domestic water services, and energy-efficient building design.
Proven experience leading projects and managing client relationships.
Proficiency with industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, IES, Hevacomp, Cymap, or similar design tools.
Thorough understanding of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance, and relevant industry standards.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Eligibility to work in the UK.
Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership.
Experience delivering low-carbon and net-zero building projects.
Knowledge of BREEAM, NABERS UK, Passivhaus, or other sustainability frameworks.
Experience managing project teams and mentoring junior staff.
