- Project Ownership — Lead major project elements or small standalone projects, ensuring delivery against technical, schedule and budget constraints.
- Advanced Problem Solving — Resolve complex engineering issues using deep subject matter expertise and real‑world mechanical design experience.
- Bid & Proposal Support — Provide expert technical input for bids, including risk assessments, concept development, cost estimation and early‑stage planning.
- Design Lifecycle Delivery — Deliver full lifecycle design from concept through detailed design, including modelling, calculations, design reviews, production drawings and BOM creation.
- Engineering Calculations — Perform and review calculations using hand methods, spreadsheets, FEA and specialist software.
- Client & Site Interaction — Attend client meetings, support site surveys, respond to technical queries and contribute to installation, testing and commissioning activities.
- Production Support — Support production teams with technical queries, red‑line updates, inspections and Factory Acceptance Testing.
- Legacy Equipment Support — Provide engineering support for existing or previously delivered equipment and systems.
- Team Mentoring — Mentor colleagues, support CPD and contribute to a positive, collaborative engineering culture.
- Quality & Safety — Ensure all work complies with safety standards, quality processes and engineering best practice.
- Stakeholder Engagement — Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors and internal teams, representing the organisation professionally at all times.
- Leadership Contribution — Lead project meetings, present design concepts and ensure colleagues feel valued and included in discussions.
Requirements
- Engineering Degree — Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- CAD Proficiency — Strong 3D CAD capability (AutoCAD or Inventor desirable).
- Automation & Mechanical Systems — Experience with automated machinery, power transmission systems or bespoke mechanical equipment.
- Professional Development — Commitment to CPD and engagement with industry bodies, seminars and technical events.
- Strong understanding of advanced engineering principles with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills.
