Senior Mechanical Engineer
Our client is a leading multinational engineering services provider and general contractor who employ over 2,000 and deliver leading-edge construction solutions across a range of key sectors including Data Centres, Healthcare, Life Sciences and Technology, Fire protection, Building Services, and Technical Support Services. They are currently looking for Senior Mechanical Engineers to join them on a Data Centre Project in Zaragoza, Spain.
The Ideal Senior Mechanical Engineer Will Be Responsible For:
- Lead the design, coordination, and delivery of mechanical systems including HVAC, cooling systems, piping, and fire protection, ensuring compliance with project requirements and data centre standards.
- Manage and mentor Mechanical Engineers and oversee mechanical subcontractors, ensuring adherence to quality, programme, and safety requirements. Review and approve RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
- Ensure all mechanical installations comply with relevant codes, standards (e.g. ASHRAE, CIBSE), and client specifications. Lead inspections, witness testing, and approve QA/QC documentation.
- Monitor mechanical works against the construction programme, identifying risks, mitigating delays, and ensuring successful project delivery.
- Provide technical leadership during design, installation, commissioning, and handover. Liaise with design teams, consultants, clients, and project stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
- Coordinate with electrical, civil, and architectural teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems through BIM and coordination meetings.
- Promote and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, driving best practice across mechanical works.
- Lead mechanical commissioning, FAT/SAT activities, and final handover, ensuring systems are fully tested, documented, and accepted by the client.
You Will Need:
- 8+ years' experience in a Senior Mechanical Engineer or similar MEP leadership role.
- Technical Design Management experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong leadership, organization, communication, and time management skills.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and mechanical subcontractors.
- An EU passport may not be required but is highly desirable.
