Senior Mental Health Support Worker
📍 Transitional Support, Oxford
💰 £28,938 - £32,214 per annum (depending on experience)
🕒 37 hours per week | Monday – Friday, inclusive of bank holidays, Occasional Evening & Weekends, with occasional covering of shifts. You will be required to participate in an on-call rota as part of this role.
At Response, our mission is simple: to enable people of all ages to live a more fulfilled life through excellent mental health services, housing and supported living.
We're looking for an experienced and compassionate individual to join our Transitional Support Team as a Senior Mental Health Support Worker. This is an opportunity to take the next step in your career, combining direct support for residents with leadership responsibilities that help shape a positive, safe and recovery-focused service.
A Role Where Leadership Meets Impact
As a Senior Mental Health Support Worker, you'll be more than a support worker. You'll be a mentor, role model and trusted leader who helps create an environment where both residents and colleagues can thrive.
Whether you're guiding a team through a busy shift, supporting someone through a difficult period, or celebrating a resident's achievement, you'll play an important part in changing lives for the better.
What You'll Be Doing
As part of our leadership team, you will:
? Lead and coordinate shifts to ensure high-quality support is delivered
? Support residents through their recovery journey using a person-centred approach
? Manage medication processes and ensure safe working practices
? Provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to Support Workers
? Assist with assessments, support planning and risk management
? Respond to incidents, safeguarding concerns and complaints when required
? Promote a positive culture built around respect, collaboration and inclusion
? Support residents with practical life skills such as budgeting, cooking, travel and tenancy management
? Encourage access to employment, training, education and community opportunities
? Champion trauma-informed practice and recovery-focused support
What Success Looks Like
In this role, success isn't measured by paperwork alone.
It's seeing someone gain the confidence to travel independently.
It's helping a resident move closer to independent living.
It's supporting colleagues to develop their skills and grow in confidence.
It's knowing you've helped create a safe, supportive environment where people can flourish.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who has:
? Experience supporting people with mental health needs
? A good understanding of recovery-focused and person-centred practice
? Experience supporting assessments, referrals or risk management processes
? Strong communication and relationship-building skills
? Confidence to take the lead and support colleagues
? A commitment to continuous learning and development
? GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who shares our values:
