Senior Planner
Carmichael UK
We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join a growing civil engineering contractor delivering a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects across the region.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on planner who can confidently operate independently, build programmes from first principles, and provide robust planning support throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing detailed project programmes using Primavera P6, ensuring realistic and achievable delivery schedules whilst considering all operational constraints and site-specific restrictions.
You will work closely with project delivery teams, assisting with planning strategy, programme development, progress reporting and critical path analysis across a range of civil engineering works.
Projects are likely to include:
- Concrete (linear and structures)
- Earthworks and layerworks
- Drainage installations
- Utility diversions and infrastructure
- Asphalt and surfacing works
- General civil engineering and infrastructure packages
Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates located across North London, Hertfordshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas, offering a practical commute to site with an expectation of being on-site at least four days per week, and likely full-time on-site during the initial stages of the project.
This opportunity would suit a technically strong, delivery-focused Planner looking to take ownership of programmes and become a key member of a growing infrastructure team.
We are particularly interested in planners who have:
- Proven experience creating baseline programmes from first principles using Primavera P6
- Previous site-based engineering and project delivery experience
- A civil engineering qualification
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and buildability
- Experience planning civil engineering and infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of working time restrictions, operational constraints and programme risk management
- The confidence to work autonomously and challenge delivery teams where required
- Experience gained within a Tier 2/Principal contractor environment or similar as a Planner
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
This role would suit someone who enjoys being actively involved in project delivery rather than operating solely from a head office environment.

- Company car or car allowance
- Pension contribution

- 25 days annual leave
