Senior Planner
Carmichael UK
An excellent long-term opportunity outside IR35 has arisen for a Senior Planner on a major water infrastructure project in the north east of England.
Your hands on expertise as a technically capable planner who can build and maintain programmes from first principles, whilst working closely with delivery teams across complex civil engineering works, is sought. This role will suit an individual who understands construction and delivery, having previously worked in an operational role before transitioning into planning.
Your responsibilities will include -
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project programmes from first principles.
- Produce baseline programmes, target programmes, progress updates, recovery programmes and programme narratives.
- Work closely with site teams, engineers, project managers and commercial teams to ensure programmes reflect actual delivery methodologies.
- Undertake critical path analysis and identify programme risks and opportunities.
- Support planning requirements associated with change management, compensation events and programme impacts.
- Provide regular reporting to senior management and client stakeholders.
- Challenge methodologies and sequencing to optimise project delivery.
- Ensure programme compliance with contractual obligations and reporting requirements.
The requirements include -
- Proven experience as a Planner on major civil engineering projects and preferably water projects or on water frameworks.
- Previous experience working in a delivery role for a UK contractor (Site Engineer, Section Engineer, Site Manager, Project Engineer, Project Manager or similar) before moving into planning.
- Strong ability to develop programmes from first principles, not simply update existing schedules.
- Extensive knowledge of the NEC4 suite of contracts.
- Experience supporting compensation events, programme change and delay analysis.
- Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proficient user of Primavera P6
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to challenge and influence project teams.
- An ability to convey and explain the program for site staff to understand
If you are a proven first principles Planner with a strong civil engineering background, NEC4 expertise and practical site delivery experience, we would be keen to hear from you.
