Senior Planning Engineer – Civil Engineering & Infrastructure

Are you an experienced Planning Engineer with a strong civil engineering site background?

We’re recruiting for a Senior Planning Engineer to join an established and growing team working across a varied portfolio of major civil engineering, construction, highways, roads and infrastructure projects throughout the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planner who understands construction from the ground up. Previous site-based civil engineering experience is essential, whether gained as a Site Engineer, Site Agent, Sub Agent, Project Engineer or through an operational planning role.

You’ll be responsible for developing realistic, deliverable programmes and working closely with project, engineering, commercial and operational teams to plan and optimise the delivery of complex projects.

The Role

As Senior Planning Engineer, you will:

• Develop detailed construction programmes from tender stage through to project delivery

• Review tender information and develop effective delivery strategies, methodologies and sequencing

• Work closely with engineering, commercial, operations and bid teams to develop robust programmes

• Support tender submissions and contribute to winning new work

• Challenge existing methodologies and develop more efficient ways of delivering projects

• Provide planning expertise across a varied portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects

• Contribute to continuous improvement, best practice and the development of planning processes

About You

We’re looking for an experienced construction planner who can combine technical planning expertise with genuine site delivery experience.

You will ideally have:

• Previous site-based experience within civil engineering or construction – essential

• Experience working on civil engineering, highways, roads, infrastructure or major construction projects

• Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing and buildability

• Experience producing and managing construction programmes from tender through to delivery

• HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction or a related discipline

• The confidence to challenge assumptions and influence project delivery strategies

• Civil Engineering Planner, Construction Planner with major infrastructure experience

Experience across highways, roads, infrastructure, utilities, civil engineering or other major construction projects would be particularly relevant.
