About the Role

Coventry City Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join the Children's Help and Protection Team within the South locality. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and motivated social work professional to work within a supportive case-holding team, helping to safeguard children and improve outcomes for families across Coventry.

Rate: £33.30 per hour (Umbrella)

As a Senior Practitioner within the South Social Worker Case holding Team, you will work with children and families requiring statutory intervention, providing high-quality assessments, safeguarding support and care planning.

You will play a key role in supporting complex casework, promoting best practice and ensuring that children receive timely and effective services that meet their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a caseload of approximately 20 children and families
  • Undertaking assessments and developing effective plans
  • Working with children in need of support and protection
  • Managing child protection and safeguarding interventions
  • Building positive relationships with children, families and partner agencies
  • Contributing to high-quality decision-making and risk assessment
  • Maintaining accurate and timely case recording
  • Supporting the delivery of excellent social work practice within the team

Requirements

  • Social Work qualification
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • 3+ years post-qualified experience within Children's Services
  • Strong experience of safeguarding and child protection work
  • Excellent assessment, planning and analytical skills
  • The ability to manage complex cases and competing priorities
  • A child-focused and outcome-driven approach to practice
  • Strong communication and partnership-working skills

  • Location: 257 Stretton Avenue, Coventry, CV3 3HQ
  • Hybrid Working: Flexible working arrangements are available and can be discussed at interview.
