The Opportunity
Are you an experienced Planner or Senior Planner looking for a role where you can take real ownership of a major programme, lead a small planning team and have a direct influence on project delivery?
We're working with a specialist and growing project controls consultancy that is looking to appoint a Senior / Principal Consultant - Planner to join its integrated project controls team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional who wants to move beyond simply maintaining programmes and take genuine ownership of planning strategy, programme performance and stakeholder engagement.
You'll work closely with delivery teams and senior project controls professionals, while having the autonomy to ensure that the live programme remains accurate, realistic and aligned with project objectives.
Your Role
As the Senior / Principal Planner, you'll take ownership of the live Primavera P6 programme, ensuring that progress, forecasts, logic and instructed changes are accurately reflected.
You'll also lead a small planning team, working collaboratively with the delivery team and wider project stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Owning and maintaining the live / working Primavera P6 programme, including progress updates, forecasting and day-to-day schedule management.
• Working closely with delivery teams and CAMs to ensure activities are fully understood and the programme logic is correctly incorporated.
• Integrating Project Manager's Instructions (PMIs) into the live programme and ensuring instructed work is accurately reflected.
• Leading the monthly progress cycle, including subcontractor reviews, programme updates and schedule lockdown.
• Producing programme submissions and supporting narrative for customer requirements.
• Providing high-quality planning analysis to support programme reporting and project decision-making.
• Leading and developing a small planning team, setting priorities and sharing responsibility for programme performance.
• Working closely with other project controls disciplines to ensure planning information is fully integrated.
• Supporting commercial management and change control activities.
• Building strong relationships with project and client stakeholders and providing credible planning insight to support delivery.

• Strong, demonstrable expertise in project planning.
• Excellent working knowledge of Primavera P6.
• Experience of commercial management and change control.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A confident analytical and problem-solving approach.
• The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
• Experience adapting to different client environments and working cultures.

• Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience of commercial management and change control.
• The ability to provide senior-level planning advice and challenge where appropriate.

APM, MRICS or equivalent qualifications, Primavera P6 Practitioner certification, mentoring/team management experience or an Armed Forces background would also be advantageous.
